Web 2.0 Tool:

Twiducate.com- a social-networking site developed by teachers for teachers

Social Participation:

This lesson is designed from the start to take teachers on an adventure. This is what most kids want! What better way to teach how to give the students what they need, than through giving them something of what they want!
On the bus ride, teachers will share what they see with each other. Then back in class, open-discussion of the issues discovered are explored on how they may relate to grades and behavior. Then, teachers will explore options to better reaching the students.

Making Connections:

This information is important for the teachers to comprise the letter to be sent home and bookmarked on the teacher’s twiducate.com profile. This letter explains the importance of connecting, like this, to improve teacher-student-parent relationships, communications, and student success! Teachers will have a better understanding of their classroom students, by seeing where they live and play.
This is an avenue for the students, parents, and teachers to work together, solve issues together, and achieve together.

Create/Produce:

The teachers will create a functioning twiducate.com account, ready and waiting with each class roster, of their students.
A letter to parents, from the teachers of the school, will be made and ready to send home. This letter is about twiducate.com, the rules and regulations of usage, and the manner by which it will be used.
The teachers will create topics of thought for their students to respond to on twiducate.com.

Assessment:

Teachers will use the computer to create a twiducate.com teacher profile.
Assessment will be to monitor progress during the training of twiducate.com. Teachers will compose a parent letter for twiducate.com implementation.
Teachers will explain possible factors facing students in their school.
All teachers will share their findings for group discussion.
